Andrea MacNevin

She/Her/Hers

Practice Overview

After acquiring a JD from UNB Law, Andrea was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2015. Following her articles with the Federal Department of Justice, Andrea joined a boutique labour relations firm, offering services to clients across Canada. In 2018, Andrea branched out to build her own solo practice. MacNevin Law & Mediation was a conduit for Andrea to build out her workplace investigation and mediation practice. In this role, she also worked on human rights matters before each of the Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Canadian Human Rights Commissions.

Since Andrea joined Barteaux Labour and Employment Lawyers Inc. in 2022, she has concentrated on building the firm’s investigation practice. Andrea’s investigation work focuses mainly on workplace investigations, but also includes conducting human rights, workplace safety, sports, and professional misconduct investigations.

In addition to the above, Andrea also provides advice and representation to employers on labour and employment matters, including employment litigation, human rights claims, and workplace policies.

Andrea acknowledges that her work is carried out in the traditional, unceded, and unsurrendered territory of the Mi’kmaq People.

  • Andrea’s work and community involvement is grounded in her appreciation for social and racial justice. When she is not at work, she can usually be found training for a marathon, spending time with her step-kids and godson (when they let her), or endlessly scrolling through social media. She also loves a good hike with her dog, Oakley, and DJ’s on occasion
