Practice Overview

Nancy is a senior labour and employment lawyer with an acute focus on issues affecting the workplace.

As a management-side advocate, she provides day-to-day counsel as well as long-term strategic advice to employers across a broad spectrum of industries throughout Atlantic Canada.

She acts for employers dealing with concerns that range from all manner of employment-related issues including complex disputes and collective bargaining negotiations.

Nancy has an admirable success record representing employers before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal and in grievance arbitrations. She also regularly represents employers before administrative tribunals, such as the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board and the Labour Standards Tribunal. In 2019, Nancy appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in a precedent-setting case on the duty of good faith in employment and contractual clarity in incentive-based compensation agreements.

Nancy received her Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) designation in 2014.
